Gabriel was sitting in the library, like usual; he was reading a few books on Charms he had enjoyed in the past. He loved pretty much every subject there was, but Charms had to be his favourite. It was not just the fact it was his best subject, but the notion behind the ethics of Charms amused him to no end, he did not know why they did, but they did all the same. These three books he had pretty much memorised, but he was running through them for a bit of light reading.
He had two other books one on potions and one on one of the newer subjects he was taking, Ancient Runes. Ancient Runes was another subject that he enjoyed, sure enough it was not he favourite, but it was a close fourth after Potions and Herbology. The reasons why he loved Herbology so much, well, it was not so much enjoyed as in the fact he would be needing all the information he could get from this subject for his future career, as it was with potions, that and he owed his life to that subject. If it was not for the potions his father had made for him, he would not be alive to study the subject he owed so much to.
Potions, Herbology, Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, the four subject he would have to master if he hoped to become as good as he could be in his chosen field, bounty hunting. For he was a Richards, and it was in his blood, before he was even born he was chosen to follow this path, because for as long as the records of his family exist, there had been bounty hunters in his family. So, when he says he chose this path, it was more like he was chosen for it.

AND THE WORLD IS SPINNING MUCH TOO FAST w e l l i c a n h a r d l y c a t c h m y b r e a t h AND I JUST HOPE THAT THIS WILL LAST - - - - - - - - - - First week back and already CK had been given a load of homework to do meaning she hadn't had any free time to herself at all. She hadn't even been able to go down to the greenhouses to help Professor Sprout on an evening before she was due to do her rounds in the castle. She would head down there know but she knew Professor Sprout was teaching some thirds years so instead she had decided to go to the library to read up on the magical qualities of some Japanese plants that she had seen over the summer. She had found memories of the trip she had taken to Japan with her father the summer just gone. She had no irritating little brothers who would rather make a mud pie and start a messy war than actually look at the plants. Instead her mother had taken them to them to France to the muggle attraction of Disney Land Paris where they could ride everything till their hearts content.
Gently pushing open the oak door CK quietly entered to sanctum of silence as she made her way over to the Herbology section to find the oriental plant book she had seen floating around in her previous years at Hogwarts. Upon reaching the section she quickly by passed the beginner's section and headed for the more heavy reading of the N.E.W.T student as she knew the book was located around that area. Then she spied it on the shelf which was annoyingly just out of her reach. So since she was in Hogwarts and now a witch of age she could use magic to aid her. "Accio." She said pointing her apple wand at the book she wanted with flew of the self and into her left hand. Then she replace her wand back into her pocket before heading down to the reading and studying area of the library. It was there she spotted a fellow Hufflepuff not of her year but she remember him from the Sorting feast so she decided he would be good company. "Mind if I sit here." She asked him. "It's Gabriel isn't it."

Gabriel briefly looked up when he heard the door open, seeing it was the head girl he looked back down and turned to the next page revising the Protego Charm. This was one of the spell he loved to use, because not only did this spell save his neck in duelling club, but he loved the expressions on peoples’ faces when they found out that he had just deflected their best spells. Of course he didn’t always use it, he didn’t want to seem boring in battle, but he would use it if he could not find a suitable counter attack for the spell or spells launched at him.
He then heard her speak, asking if he didn’t mind her joining him. He looked up again, tearing himself away from the Impervius Charm. He reached out with one of his frying pan sized hands and grabbed the top of the chair moving it out so she could sit down. Gabriel could be one of the worst people for conversations in this place, but he was a polite guy when he had to be. He took his hand away from the chair and signalled for her to sit. He then did a rare thing, he spoke,
“By all means, I will not stop you.”
With that said he looked back down at his book reading through the qualities needed for the Impervius Charm. He knew it all already, but he always thought it was not a bad thing revisiting something he knew already, just in case there was something he had missed the other times he had revised for that particular spell. When she asked if his name was Gabriel he looked back up and nodded,
“Indeed it is, Gabriel Vincent Richards the third, and you are Cynthia Hale if I’m not mistaken.”

"Thank you. " She told him as she placed the old dusty book on Japanese Herbology down on the table. Cynthia wished the book wasn't so filthy but what was to you expect when the books was as old as they where. If you wanted a new book you had to go by them yourself as they school could afford to have a library full of new books as it would cost a fortune. So they books they did get was either donated from Flourish and Blotts as they was the end of the stock or second hand ones that people now longer used. Though they did have some newer books but they tended to be kept in class store rooms to be and hand for teachers.
Then he confirmed that his named was Gabriel which she was glad of as CK would have blushed bright red if she had got his name wrong as that would have been truly embarrassing. He also asked about her name in the same way and she smiled and nodded to confirm that he had gotten it right. "Yes that's me though most people tend to call me CK." She told him as is was the abbreviation of her first and middle name. She had gotten it before she came to Hogwarts from her father and brothers and it is ironically the nickname of Clark Kent who was called it by Jimmy Olson. Then as she opened her Herbology book she happened to glance over to Gabriel's to find he was reading a charms book. Charms was not one of CK's best subjects. She had really never been any good at Charms and was defiantly a Herbology girl as she was at the top of her class for it. "So you like charms or studying for some homework."

Gabriel looked at her when she spoke, so they call her CK, but would Gabriel go beyond the boundaries that their lack of familiarity would permit. Sure enough she had said people called her CK, but the fact was, despite his family’s bad reputation because of their work, he had been brought up to show proper manners. Even though he could be a bit goofy at time, to many peoples’ surprise, he was a guy who lived to uphold the reputation of his family and that made him keep proper respect and manners, well, most of the time that is. He then decided he would. Looking back at CK he spoke,
“Well, CK, if we’re on that kind of name basis, my friends call me Gabe.”
He then looked back at his book and turned over the page and faced one of the few Charms out there he had not learnt, the Fidelius Charm. He was pretty close to being able to use it which, for a fifth year, was very impressive, since it was a very complex charm. He read through the usual stuff about it, like its use for magically concealing a secret in a living soul, and the incantation as wand work. He sighed craving the ability to be able to use this spell. But he was brought out of his self pitying stupor when she asked about the charms books. He looked up and spoke,
“Along side Potions and Herbology, Charms is my favourite and coincidently my best subjects. I see you have a book on Japanese Plants, I have a book on that if you’re interested, it’s on poisons how to identify, make potions and from them and on potions to cure them. I know it’s not the most conventional of subjects for a book, and some may even frown upon some of the subject matter covered in it, but it’s a fascinating read none the less.”

AND THE WORLD IS SPINNING MUCH TOO FAST w e l l i c a n h a r d l y c a t c h m y b r e a t h AND I JUST HOPE THAT THIS WILL LAST - - - - - - - - - - As she sat now reading the dusty Japanese plant book while she waited for Gabriel's response she scanned the content page of the book. Introduction, List of plants, ah here we go plants and their uses. CK didn't just only excel in Herbology but was quite the potion maker too and this particular part of the book told her what she could use certain plants for. So for her it was in a way Herbology and Potion reading heaven. She quickly turned to the page obviously quite eager to begin learning about the plants in question. She was just about to start reading the page when Gabriel came up with a reply so she turned her attention from the book as she was to polite to ignore anybody. And she was the school's head girl so she was expected to set an example to the younger students especially those in her own house.
He told her that if they was going to go on a nickname basis that she could call him Gabe so she smiled and nodded at his request. Then he answered her question by telling her that he did indeed like Charms and that it was his best subject. Then he told her that he had a book that she might be interested in that was about poisons and how to identify, use and cure them. The book is something that CK would defiantly be interested as it would definably be useful information for her to know with her N.E.W.T's coming up. Folding her arms onto the table she lent forward slightly. "Oh that sound interesting I would love to have a look at it. We should meet in the common room as you say your good at charms well I'm terrible maybe you could help me. I don't take it anymore but I'm sure it could hurt to do some extra studying in that area." Ck asked as she would gladly return the favor if he wanted her to.

Gabriel nodded; he would gladly help her out with Charms. In his opinion in a battle a Charm could be just as useful, if not more so, then a Jinx or a Curse. In duelling club he had been on the brink of defeat and one of his charms turned to the tables and got him the victory. He did not solely rely on Charms in battle, and in fact was pretty able with defective and offensive jinxes and curses as well. His particular favourite was the Confundus Charm, ok, it was a charm, but very useful in a fight, but if there was any spell that was not a charm he found to be his favourite it was the Body-Binding Curse, Petrificus Totalus.
He closed his book and looked at Cynthia, his face, like usual, very hard to read. It was this that so many people were intimidated by him, ok, his size was also a factor, but some people found it unnerving to look into a face that they could not read. He had trained himself to keep him emotions away from his face, and it was very rare someone would see him without this almost emotionless expression. The more common would be his look when he was not too pleased with a person, and he had been told he could stop the heart of a fully grown mountain troll with that look, even though he always thought of that as a bit of an over play of its intimidation ability. He then spoke,
“I would gladly assist you with charms, and the common room would be a good place to meet, maybe we could meet tomorrow, and I could also lend you that book. Now if you don’t mind I must take my leave, I’ve got to get ready for my nightly exercise before turning in. It has been a pleasure finally speaking with you Cynthia, and I hope we can do this again.”
With that he grabbed his books and stood up. He then placed them back exactly where they originally were. He then looked back at Cynthia and gave her a brief but courteous nod before leaving the room. It was rare he spoke to anyone, but he was glad he did on this occasion; he had rather enjoyed their brief chat.
